A brigantine carrying 500 tons of salt from Turks Island to Philadelphia came ashore at Ocean City. Crews from the Peck's Beach and Ocean City life-saving stations took off all nine crewmen. For years afterward the wreck's timbers could still be seen south of the Peck's Beach station.
