September 26, 1942 · Somers Point
Richard Somers built the Somers Mansion between 1720 and 1726, and it is the oldest surviving house in Atlantic County. His descendants gave it to the Atlantic County Historical Society in 1937, and New Jersey acquired it in 1941. After a Works Progress Administration restoration, it was dedicated as a State Historic Site.
