What it's like

Living in Central

Central Ocean City spans the width of the island between about 6th and 18th Streets. Most of the boardwalk's attractions sit between 6th and 14th Streets, including the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace, and downtown's boutiques, cafes and restaurants line Asbury Avenue a few blocks west.

It's the island's busiest neighborhood in summer and its most walkable year-round. City Hall is at 9th Street and Asbury Avenue, and you can get through most of a week without moving the car.

What to know before you buy

  • Central has the most homes for sale on the island, mostly condos, from small boardwalk-area units to large two-floor condos.
  • Lower entry prices make it a common first step into Ocean City.
  • Rental demand is high this close to the boardwalk; we'll run real rental numbers for any unit.
  • Noise and summer crowds near the boardwalk aren't for everyone; a block or two makes a big difference.
