Beginning March 6, 1962, a powerful storm battered Sea Isle City for roughly three days, continuing through March 8. It destroyed the boardwalk and knocked houses off their foundations. Afterward, oceanfront homes and businesses were relocated about a block inland, behind a newly built line of dunes.
